Halsey goes nearly topless in teaser for Lucky music video

‘Lucky’ (2024) Lyrics: Halsey Reveals Britney Spears’ Reaction to New Song

Halsey has dropped their new song “Lucky” and it samples the beloved hit single by Britney Spears.

The 29-year-old singer also interpolates Monica‘s song “Angel of Mine” on the new track.

Halsey went nearly topless in an evocative sneak peek for her upcoming music video Lucky, which is slated to bow on Friday.

Based on hints she previously dropped on social media, the song may be about how she is ‘lucky to be alive’ after being diagnosed with lupus and a rare T-cell disorder.

Now she has offered a tantalizing glimpse of its video, helmed by Gia Coppola, who is the granddaughter of The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola.

In one striking snatch of footage, Halsey dances wildly in a darkened bar wearing no shirt over her sparkling, barely-there bra.

The 29-year-old songstress can also be seen flopping back on her bed and having an animated conversation in a living room with a mystery man in a tank top.

“I’m so lucky, I’m a star/ But I cry, cry, cries in my lonely heart, thinking/ If there’s nothing missing in my life/ Then why do these tears come at night?” Halsey sings in the chorus.

Halsey initially teased the song earlier this month by telling fans, “When I was 5, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, these words hit different. love you forever.”

In a Q&A with fans, Halsey revealed Britney‘s reaction to the song.

On “Lucky,” Halsey reflects on their complicated relationship with navigating health issues, motherhood, and heartbreak while in the public eye.

The raw, honest new single has the singer, who uses she/they pronouns, reflecting on her own desire to be seen and heard as she pursued this career as a teenager without realizing the sacrifices and hurdles she would endure along the way.

The beat interpolates Monica’s signature track as Spears’ “Lucky” chorus is sung by Halsey over it. Spears had personally given her blessing to Halsey, who played it for the icon early in the recording process.
